5 second-year students went on their short-term studies abroad to Canada, US and Australia this summer. Each one went to English schools and explored their own issues. Two of them won “Tobitate! (Leap for Tomorrow) Study Abroad Initiative,” the scholarship by the Japanese government. Others received the scholarship by the supporters’ association of our school. Three made comments as follows. (Within the bracket destination is shown.)
- I think I became more independent and was impressed by foreign people having their own strong opinions and ideas. I could also know and see Canada and culture there with my own eyes. It was an awesome experience for me. I really appreciate my parents for letting me experience such great things. (Canada)
- I had a great time in amazing multinational environment. Spending with foreign friends all the time, I could see many differences of culture. I got more tough and positive attitude than before. (US)
- I am a shy person. I wanted to change my character during this studying abroad. But I couldn’t do it. Now I think that “to change one’s character” isn’t always good. I realized I should accept my “unchanging character.” It may not be bad. (Canada)
